HOW BUSINESS OWNERS CAN PREVENT BURNOUT

People who turn to social media to promote their business end up suffering from burnout at some point. This can be eluded by working during your most productive hours, limiting screen time, researching content earlier, and scheduling said content in advance.

Define Your Goals

One of the major reasons a business owner will experience burnout while running a business on social media is feeling as though they’re not achieving anything. If your strategy or goals are way too broad, nonexistent that will not be helpful.

Spend some time to outline your goals, and then segment those into smaller, more achievable objectives. As you achieve those goals, you will get happy about the outcome of your efforts.

Set boundaries and expectations

Social media may be available all the time but that doesn’t mean you should always find yourself using it. 24/7 social media coverage is just not realistic but also unhealthy.  Schedule time to create and post, engage and monitor posts.

Work smarter, not harder

Dividing your day and tasks into sections through time blocking is another effective productivity technique. You can use time blocking to set boundaries on how much time you spend doing looking at notifications and comments and be strategic with my time blocks.

Ask for help – Outsource

Most social media managers are often self-starters. Just because they can handle the work of an auditor, graphic designer, copywriter, and engage on posts tweet doesn’t mean they should. There’s no rule that the business owner should manage all the social accounts. If you own the business and you have employees, then it shouldn’t be up to only you otherwise, you may want to consider outsourcing.

Maintain healthy habits

Self-care is one of the things that we drop off when we get busy, stressed, or strained on the business. Set yourself up for success with some healthy habits.

  • Take regular breaks.
  • Protect your eye health
  • Exercise.
  • Meditate.
  • Eat healthy meals, away from your desk.
  • Keep your phone out of the bedroom.
  • Get a full night’s sleep.
Schedule Post In Advance

The fastest way to burn yourself out online is trying to come up with new blog post ideas as and when you look to post them. That’s why you must start scheduling content ahead of time, either by using the tools provided by social media platforms like Facebook business suite or by using third-party software.

These third-party solutions include the likes of BufferHootsuite, and ZohoSocial, all of which help you to schedule all of your content hours, days, weeks, or months ahead of time. This means that you can save yourself the last-minute difficulty of trying to come up with something exciting to say on the spot that your followers will find appealing.

These are just a few guidelines you can use to help keep social media burnout at bay or get back on track if you’re already experiencing it. Remember, there is no job as important as your mental health.
